Striped shield bug

A shield-shaped, 8-12 mm large, unmistakable bug due to its color pattern. The head is round-triangular with protruding eyes and long black antennae. The neck shield is wide with rounded corners; the shell completely covers the elytra, with the exception of a small narrow edge. The basic color is bright red, rarely orange-red. The head has two black stripes that continue on the neck shield. In total, 6 black longitudinal stripes run across the neck shield, of which 4, the middle and the outermost, continue across the shield to the rear edge. The side edges of the abdomen are alternately marked with black and red.

Fire bug

Striking black and red markings, 10-12 mm large, robust bug with a long oval body and a flat top and arched underside. Black are the head, antennae, legs, the median plane and the stippling of the red-edged neck shield, the shield, the inner part of the elytra as well as the 2 small spots on the outer parts thereof, the 2 large round points in the middle and the trailing edge. The abdomen is also black, with the exception of the edge. The wing membrane is usually retracted, exposing the black, red-edged spine. The head has small pointed eyes and the body is hairless.
